About Health Equity Access

At Health Equity Access (HEA), we are building a world where individuals and communities experience no disparities in accessing needed health services; where no one is underserved. We work towards this vision through supporting the government of Malawi and technical partners to come up with innovative strategies and interventions for eliminating barriers that prevent individuals and communities from accessing and utilizing quality and affordable needed primary health care services.

What Makes Us Unique

We are a local organization developing quality technologies, by local engineers, to solve local problems. Thus, our technologies are best adapted to the people we serve and are cheap to maintain.

Our focus is on building and strengthening rural health systems, which carter for the majority population and the most vulnerable, yet are usually heavily underequipped.

We actively look for evidence to inform our programming, and we only recommend or scale up interventions that have proven to be safe, acceptable and cost-effective.

 Our Current Projects

Health Equity Access (HEA) Commuters for Health (C4H)

In low-income countries, Millions of people have no access to highly-qualified health workers. As HEA we believe that this inequity is not only preventable, but it is worth preventing - and that it is our responsibility to make the difference. This is why we have Commuters for Health (C4H), a team of highly qualified health workers who travel to offer free and quality health services to thousands of underserved populations in remote communities.

Health Equity Access (HEA) Sonkha Fund

The first step to proper disease management is accurate diagnosis. Most patients in rural settings, however, are mismanaged due to the lack of basic equipment required to aid in reaching the right diagnosis. This is why, through the Sonkha Initiative, as HEA we are mobilizing local talent and raising resources to fund the development, repair and purchasing of quality and cost-effective basic medical equipment for rural health facilities in Malawi.
